I have extensive motivational interviewing training and experience leading psychoeducation groups. I am very experienced in using medications to treat addiction as part of a larger treatment plan.
Psychotherapy
During my training, I sought out extra opportunities to enhance my skills. I completed a seven month psychodynamic psychotherapy training program through the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center. At the Duquesne University Psychotherapy Training Clinic, I completed a one year clinical internship alongside psychology doctoral students. I had numerous psychodynamic training cases over a two year period accompanied by weekly small group therapy transcript analysis and article discussion.
Healthcare Professionals
I have presented at the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting several times on the topic of physicians and trainees with mental illness and substance use disorders. I have participated in small groups at the University of Colorado medical school to help educate students. Currently, I work with the Colorado Physician Health Program (CPHP) to treat healthcare professionals.
